overcome fear of singing in public

Five Tips on How to Overcome Procrastination and Stick to Your Singing Practice | EFT Tapping

Oh G’day

A question for you - did you sing this week?

Even if you sang in the car or in the shower or with your mates at karaoke, this makes me so happy!

It makes me happy to know that despite whatever may be going on in your life right now, you allowed yourself to feel joy and/or relief for those times that you were singing this week.

This is what singing gives us - an opportunity to connect to ourselves and to the present moment. Singing can teach us what happiness really is.

In this week’s episode of #FearlessTV, I give you my top Five Tips to Stop Procrastinating and Start your Singing Practice as well as an EFT Tapping session to help you commit to a daily routine.

If you grew up taking piano or singing lessons, chances are you have a negative connotation of the word 'practice'. It was drilled into us by our teachers – “practice makes perfect”. I don’t know about you, but I would often turn up to my singing lessons feeling super guilty because I had done next to no practice because a) I wasn’t quite sure how or what to practice or b) I would procrastinate and not get around to doing it.

This episode will help you redefine practice and give you some very practical tips on how to get started and how to structure a singing practice session.

There is also a bonus EFT tapping session at the end. If you do this every day for the next week, I guarantee you that any blocks that you may have had about practicing will be gone.

Overcome the Fear of Singing in front of Others with EFT Tapping

This week instead of writing you a blog post, I have made a video showing you a powerful technique to overcome the fear of singing in front of a person/people.

I have found that during my career as a singing teacher, when students first come to a lesson, they are super nervous. I have even had some students look as though they are going to either be physically ill or bolt out the door.

I can 100% relate to this. When I began my lessons at JMI (Jazz Music Institute) and the Conservatorium, I felt exactly the same way.

In fact, it took me five or six lessons to feel as though I could be myself as well as sing like myself in front of my teachers.

When you boil it all down, it really is the fear of being judged and/or confirmed that you’re not good enough.

In this episode, I will show you a practice called Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) that can obliterate any old patterns and beliefs that are holding you back from A) starting your singing journey and/or B) filling you with massive doubt about your ability.

Please let me know how you go with tapping. Look, you may feel like a galah at first, but I promise this will bring amazing results.

Talk to you next week!
